About Me

Kate is an attorney in Rochester, NY who has practiced locally in the areas of Trusts & Estates, and Elder Law for the past 5 years. She grew up in the Pittsford/Brighton area, went to Allendale Columbia School, and now works just around the corner.

Kate earned her B.A. from Williams College, and J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served as the managing editor of the Virginia Journal of Law of Social Policy. Since graduation, she has practiced law in medium and small private firms. She started her solo law practice in the middle of the pandemic, since she recognized an explosion in demand for virtual legal services. While she still prefers “face-time,” she is excited to be in a position where she can adapt quickly to client desires and needs for secure, online services.

She currently lives in Rush, New York with her dog and cat. When she is not practicing law, she is volunteering in the community, spending time with her family and friends or snuggling with her dog.

Practice:

Kate specializes in the areas of Estates, Trusts, Wills and Elder Law. She helps families protect assets to minimize the impact of long-term care costs and taxes on their legacies. Many clients are confused and concerned about nursing home costs and Medicaid. Many clients are not as worried about how their affairs will be handled in the case of their incapacity, but everyone should have a plan in place. Kate can help you get a plan in place for various scenarios, to ensure your savings and your family members are protected. If you have a loved one with special needs, Kate can help you get a plan in place for them. If you have a business, Kate can help you plan for a smooth succession. If you are charitably inclined, Kate can help you direct your contributions in a tax-efficient manner.

When you lose a loved one, the grief can be overwhelming. Kate can help you with the Administration of your loved one’s estate. Her goal is to make the administration process as easy as possible, so you can focus on other important tasks, such as healing.

Logistics:

Initial consultations are free of charge. Kate will provide an estimated quote at the end of the first consultation if possible. She can host consultations over the phone, over Zoom, or in person. Virtual document signing appointments are possible, but not preferred unless in-person meetings are too risky due to Covid-19 or inclement weather.
